The House

There are written records of the house dating to 1595. At the end of the 19th century, the house was part of the ancestral home of the Riba family from the Vall de Bianya (Bianya Valley), which belonged to an ancestor of Lali’s, the current owner.

The last tenants left in 1989 and that’s when the process of remodelling the property began. The first step was to shore up the structure and then refurbish the interior. In 1992, Lali and her husband, Toni, moved into the house. Remodelling has been an ongoing job.

Sharing this paradise with other people is why Mas El Guitart has been a rural guesthouse since 1995.

Its privileged location, within an area of great natural beauty overlooking the valley and the Pyrenees, leaves its mark on the lives of its inhabitants but also the guests who visit the area.
